Susan Watts, LMSW, is Training Director for Social Work and Couples Therapy at the Psychological Clinic at the University of Michigan. She trained as a Social Worker at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and at the University of Michigan. She has practiced in Australia, the United Kingdom and in Michigan in hospital, school, and clinic settings.
She has broad clinical interests in family systems, attachment theory, and couples therapy, particularly the applications of Dr John Gottman’s research. She has been involved in implementing diversity training in a clinical setting and is interested in culturally sensitive clinical practice. Currently she is interested in teaching and training, particularly implementing a competencies-based training model. She is involved with supervising a large group of Social Work interns as they prepare for clinical work in many spheres of Social Work practice.
